Deck to Hull joint, how much lip is ok?

Working on getting the halves taped together and wondering how much lip is acceptable, I've got a step of probably 1/32 to 1/64". Does this joint need to be perfectly flush or will I be able to sand it a bit to get it smooth prior to glassing the exterior joint. I'm trying all of the tricks I can think of including interior bracing but still have a few spots that aren't perfect.

Thanks, Ben Staley
