Photo-Point -Instruction / No Excuses anymore!!

Hi All

O.K., not all, but those that need an idea on how to get some pictures up on the KBB so we all can tell you what you're doin' wrong. :) Or see the magic you are working that we wish we could emulate(?sp?). Here is the way I got onto the Photo-Point site, with the help of a couple of others here. Photo-Point is a free site and once you've gone through it a time or two, becomes easy to use.

The address to their home page is " http://www.photopoint.com/

Once you get there you will have a screen for opening your account. It will ask for your email and a password. Fill out.

Under the password box, there should be a little check box for Quick Login. Check that and then click the Login button.

It may open up a window that will ask you to re-enter your email add. and password. Also, check the quick login box again, and then click on the login button.

That should take you to a page that lists album names. Those are fictitious names and you do not need to use them.

Immediately to the left there will be a box that reads "Create new Album." In that box, you can write the name you wish to put on your album, if you want it to be about your boat, just put the boat name , or, whatever you wish. Then click the CREATE button.

When the page comes back up, you will have a new album name in the center of the page, in the list.
At the top of the window you will see a blue bar ( tool bar ) and in that bar, find the "Upload-Photo's" label and click it.

The next window will have 4 ways in which to upload photo's to your album. You want the " Easy-Upload " option. Click the picture there.

The new window will ask how many photo's you wish to upload to your album. I believe you can only upload 10 or less. The fewer, the faster , but, if you have time then do as many as you can. When you click this, it will add or subtract from the boxes below the number box. That should be the number you asked for.
Starting with the top one, click the Browse button. That will bring up a window with your computer folders in it. It's searching for your pictures. You have to double-click on the proper folder to open it up, and then double click on your picture icon in there. That will add it to the address box and then you click the "open" button.

Come to think of it, you have a different system than I, so, your's might have a different setup for this. At any rate, you should get it in the browse box back on the photopoint page. Do this for any of your pictures that you want to add to the album.

When you are satisfied that you have all the pics. that you want just click the Upload now button. The little window that comes up in the page tells you that they are uploading and it usually takes a few minutes. Grab a cup of coffee or other beverage. When it is done, you will be in a window that says they have recieved your photos.

Now, here's where the "Quick Login" comes in. Look in the blue toolbar and click "Quick Login."

This takes you back to your album page. Just below the blue toolbar you will see the highlighted box that says You Have ?# Incoming Photo's. You have to click that.

Now you are actually in your album for the first time. You should have your picture(s) in a line up with the size in kb's and also a box next to it for a caption to the picture. It will have whatever name you used in the computer folder on it. You can rewrite whatever you want in the box and then click Update Caption.

This comes up on the album above your picture when someone views it on the KBB or whereever you put it. You can also alter the order of the pictures by checking the little box under the picture and then clicking the line between the pictures where you now want it.

You still don't actually have it in your album yet, so, under the picture there is a check box, and you must check it. This is how the computer knows which picture you are working with. You can check as many as you want to add to the album, or above all the pictures, there is a button for Select All Photos.

In the left hand border again, you can pan down a little and find the "Organize my Photos" box. In that box you have to make sure the "View As" box says pictures.

Then, you go down below that and find the Move or Copy selected photos to: button. Click the little arrow button and you get a list of the names of all your albums. Pick the one you want the picture(s) in and click it. Now go down a little and click "Move".

When the window opens back up, the picture will be gone. Just click below where it was, on the line that says, "back to photo album." That should take you back to the album.

Look back up at the "incoming photo's" on the tool bar above the album list. It should say NO incoming photo's. If it has a number there, you missed a step somewhere and it was probably Not selecting the Check Box on a photo.

Once you have got all this done and the album is just the way you like it, then go up and add this page to your favorites. That way you only have to click on that and bring up the album without going through all the hassle again.

You now have an album up and ready. I know, it looks like a lot, but, It really isn't. Just real slow the first time or two. Now, here's how to post the album link and the individual photos that everyone likes so much .

Step one is to open up the KBB site and go to "Post New Message".
When that window is up, minimize it with the button in the upper right hand corner of the screen. That should put it in the bar at the bottom of the page, depending on your software or server. That's where mine is.
Go to favorites and pull up the "PhotoPoint" site. You should be on your album page, but, if not just click the Quick Login button on the blue task bar.
Click the album you want to view. If you want to post the whole album then go to the top of the page and in the address box you will have the entire URL address of the album page.

Highlight it with the cursor and then with the cursor still on the address, RIGHT-CLICK it.

When the menu comes up, pick the Copy selection and click it.

Then, close this album page and open the KBB page again.

Put the cursor on the top picture box named " Optional Link URL " and right click.

Select the Paste option and click it. That should put the address in the box. Be sure that you didn't inadvertantly end up with two "http://"'s in the box. If so, highlight one and delete it so that you only have one.

Then, in the box below it called " Optional Link Title " you can write the name of your album.

Then if You wish to put one of the pictures right on the message as most of the guys do, just go back to the album.

Find the picture you want to use and click on it.

When it opens up click on it again and that should bring it up larger and without the photopoint advertisements all over the place. It should be by itself in the window.

When you get that far, then go up and highlight the address again, without the "http://".

Follow the same procedure that you used for the album.
This time, when you get to the KBB message page, just go down to the " Optional Image URL " box and place the address there. This is where most of the people have problems with posting a picture. They either put it in the wrong box or they put two " http://" parts at the beginning of the address.
Then, go to the Preview button and try it out. It should all come up as advertised.

Once I have he pictures up and on the KBB, then I go back and write the message.
If it's not working for you, just send an email and I'll see what I have done wrong, or that you are doing wrong. I'm sure I have left something out or got it in the wrong order, as it seemed too easy to remember for me. lol

Do you know how to scan and enter them into a folder? Also, if your pictures are not so good, most scannere come with a minimal photo-shop type set up where you can do a few things to make them better. Any problems, just let me know and I'll see if we can figure out what's wrong.

On my scanner program, when the pictures come up, they are in a window where you can do lots of things to them. Some are brighten and adjust colors and Sharpen. There are some serious programs out there to do a much better job, So, if your pictures aren't too good, there IS help. Mine are mostly all Polaroids and leave a lot to be desired, but, with a little help, can be fixed. You can experiment with them and if you screw up, then just delete it and the picture will come up again in original form.

If you are using a Photo CD or a F. Disc then when you install it you should have a folder to bring up with the browse button on the KBB. There, I'm not too familiar, but, Others on the KBB can help there.

I hope this will help others to get their photos up to be viewed by all us critics. :)

For the cheapy photo application, It has been mentioned that the throw-away cameras will take good pictures and if developed to a CD or Disc can be posted on the board for no extra cost. Hope to see your pictures soon. :)

Hope this all helps!! Check me for errors here as I've only used it a couple of times myself. B.F.N.,
