Staining before Epoxy?

Hi, I've built several strippers over the years, but my current project is a cold molded mahogany chris-craft style inboard runabout. I'm thinking of staining the mahogany a darker red/brown to more closely match the older chriscrafts.

My question is will I have expoxy adhesion problems over the stained wood? For the topsides, the plans call for a very light layer of glass to protect the wood.

Does anyone have suggestions for a type of stain that will not cause adhesion problems?

If this turns out to be a problem, my alternative is to only glass the bottom of the boat (which doesn't need to be stained since it will be bottom painted the traditional chriscraft green) and just varnish over the stained topsides.

Thanks for any suggestions.
