sanding out small indentations between strips

Hi:

I'm in the middle of sanding the outside of my Peterborough. The strips I used have a little indent where the edges of the cove go. However, in some places the cove doesn't make it to the end of the indent so there is a small, shallow indentation. Should I sand down until this gap disappears or will it not cause a problem later? (Note that in most cases I do sand this gap away, but there are some strips where the indentation is the lowest point, so I would be doing extra sanding, and I'm worried about going too far.)
