CLC replace nails with dowels

CLC uses brass nails to install the decks on some of their kayaks. An alternative is to insert a drywall screw through a small block of wood. Screw the deck down until the glue, that holds down the deck, dries. remove the screws and replace with small wooden dowels. It makes for a nice looking deck. I've done this on other boats where I needed screws to draw pieces together for gluing but then was stuck with the screw hole.
