Skeg construction

I'm trying to work out the details for the construction of a retractable skeg. A couple of items still need to be worked out. I've searched thru a bit of the archives but have not found where these items may have been addressed before. I'm seeking suggestions on:

1) method of attachment of the control cable to the skeg.

2) selection of fittings for installing the SST pivot pin so that it can be removable. I just can't bear the thought of permanently burying the pin in fiberglass. I'll probably never need to get at it later, but I like the thought of it being servicable.

3) cable and housing material preferences.

4) sealing the end of the cable housing at the control end of the cable.

Thanks, Gary B.
