Images on kayaks - photocopying onto glass cloth

I have recently been doing some experiments in printing on fabrics (for other kinds of projects). The idea hit, "why not print on fiberglass cloth and epoxy it onto the kayak?". Well, I knew that my inkjet printer would probably not print on glass cloth, but the photocopier might. Did a test pattern, taped a piece of 1.5 oz satin weave to a sheet of heavy paper and ran it through. Printed just great! Seems to be firmly fused to the cloth (doesn't smear). Haven't epoxied it on yet, but it should work. Might have to reverse print it and glass it printed side down, but I know that the glass will totally disapear, unlike thin paper.

The specifics and precautions: I used a Cannon PC 770 copier. You have to tape both the front and back edges of the cloth to the paper or else it will bunch up. I used regular Scotch type tape. Used the manual feed slot. I used a heavy weight (cover weight) paper back, don't know if this is needed.

Will let you know if it stands up to the epoxying on.
