Applying graphics

I'm in the process of building a Pygmy Osprey Standard (thanks to everyone who replied to my previous post on how to pick a boat and the amount of skill required) and would like to apply some graphics before I glass the boat. I've seen this done on a few boats and was wondering if anyone can recommend the best way to go about it (ink, paint, other)? Or, why you would recommend against it? In case you're curious, I've found a great Inuit drawing of a dolphin that would wrap perfectly around a corner of the cockpit.

Thanks in advance for any help.
