I finally broke down and got a "real" respirator-type mask. Rather than using the old disposable paper-type masks. A few thoughts:

I got the cartridges that protect you from organic vapors and 99.7% particulate matter. The paper masks only protected me from roughly 90-95% of particulates and did nothing for vapors.

The paper masks are slightly more comfortable and pinch my nose less because I am able to shape the wire nosepiece. The bridge of my nose is still a bit sore a day later.

The cartridge respirator gives me a better seal. Two benefits: less dust and no vapors entering around the edges of the facepiece, and no more glasses fogging up!

I epoxied together my accent strips last night. I could not even smell the hardener. I didn't notice that I didn't notice the hardener smell until I took the mask off at the end of the evening.

No more worries about contracting Silicosis from inhaled cab-o-sil.

I think my lungs will thank me 30 years down the road.
