building a sea sock

Hi all,

I just recently found this messageboard while looking ofr information on building a sea sock. I recently purchased a folding kayak in greenlandic style (looking quite like the feathercraft Khatsalano) which has been built in the 60's by an Austrian folding kayak maker (skin needs to be replaced). The cockpit is quite small, approx. 40x60 cm, so a feathercraft sea sock would be too big for it. Has anyone built a sea sock? What materials did you use? How did you make the fitting for the cockpit? I read an article about building a sea sock where someone just used the inner rubber tube of a bicycle wheel...

Thanks for your help, Marian
