Keepers Footbraces in CLC

After getting my footbrace plywood mounting strips all cut and prepared with sealing epoxy, pre-drilled holes, and recesses for the T-nut heads to fit into, I finally got into the cockpit area to see at what elevation to mount them.

In doing so, it came to me to just screw the brace rails directly into the sheerclamp. They ride just a tad high on the foot, but I'll be mounting over-size pads over the originals anyway, and that'll be taken care of. And, of course, the sheerclamp is plenty strong.

So is there any reason I shouldn't be doing this?

Other than using the plywood spacers because they're made now, and what do I do with them if I don't. Another lesson learned in Planning Ahead.
