Try summing moments about the point where the track and the pedal intersect. I think you'll find that the moment applied by the pedal to the track is as I indicated, and that the screw that you originally assumed to be in compression was as you predicted. I wasn't looking at the loads on the fasteners, but rather at the bending load in the track (I assumed it simply supported at the ends) In a moment of panic, 125 lbs. (P) is not unreasonable. On the Space Station we use 125 lb for unintentional kick loads, 200 lb. for intentional (push off) loads. And that's in microgravity.
