So I'm all about integration - whether strip design (later,later), fittings design, end grab design, cart design and now foot pump design.

So what about music?

Yesterday as I was setting up my guitar amp to scare the livin hell outa the little tricksters, I wandered down to the can w/ my axe still strapped on.(playin unplugged) and you know I like to play my instrument every chance I get. As I was coming out the door the guitar tuning head happened to come in contact with it. Now the door is a cheapass 1/8" doorskin ply covered door and something interesting happened. The barely audible elec guitar all of a sudden could be heard very easily - the door was acting as a sound box.

Now there is no way in hell that I'll bring along my acoustic on a trip in my yak and get screwed up by all that water, etc etc. And let alone be able to stuff it thru the hatch. But what about cutting down some cheap elec guitar to fit the hatch, drilling a 1"diam hole in the outside corner of the cut down body. Web clamp that to your kayak so that your whole stripper (or maybe even better your stitch and glue) is the soundbox for your guitar. Use a modification of Detail A in the Cart series. This sounds possible in both senses of the word.

So I'm out lookin for a cheap guitar w/ a good neck. And my bandsaw is pumped.

You'd have to experiment w/ kayak position and attachment postition to see what would be the best, but you gotta think that setting the kayak on its side would get both the deck a hummin and the hull a howlin thru that big cockpit sound hole. And would the hatches cry in sympathy? Who knows?? but I bet they would.
