I'd like to buy my hyusband a kayak building kit for his 50th birthday. He's a very competent woodworker and advanced beginner kayaker: weighs about 150 lbs, 5 foot 7 inches, slender build. Most of our kayaking will be on eastern Long island, launching from the pebbly/sandy beach into light surf, kayaking on Long Island Sound and Peconic Bay.
