I have been asking some information about a shorter version of an aleutian or bering sea style kayak. One response I got was for the building guide in the Oct 98 issue of the Sea Kayaker. I have ordered the issue and was wondering if anyone out there has built this kayak? How does it perform? Who is the designer? I would like to have some feedback on this kayak from those who know. I am a rookie and any information will be appreciated.

Is it possible to shorten the kayak that is featured in Brinck's book? I don't want to drastically alter a plan and create a boat that is a mess! How does one scale down a kayak? Any ideas?
