more of us out there?

I've been hauling my Chesapeake 17 and Osprey Standard back and forth between Connecticut and Maine a lot this summer. I've gotten used to people gawking at them on the road, or asking "Is that really wood?". However, it seems that in the last few months, lots of people have approached me in rest stops, parking lots, etc., to compare notes on their own wooden kayaks. Has anyone else noticed the increasing popularity of wooden kayaks?
