I'm a first-time stripper and just purchased two qts. of Z-Spar Captain's after a fairly exhaustive search of non-boatbuilding central Missouri only to discover upon reading the fine print on the back of the can that it is not recommended for use below the waterline. Other spar/marine varnishes I came accross had the same caveat so I ended up buying the Captain's on the strength of Mac Macarthy's recommendation in Featherweight Boats. What gives? Can I go ahead and use it, or what? Thanks, Tom
