Hollows at Bow and stern of g-coastal

I posted a message asking how to hold the strips in place at the bow and stern hollows on the Coastal model. I received an automated response saying to use an external form with strap clamps to pull it tight. This was a good idea although I modified it a bit for my use.

I felt that using strap clamps and a form to pull the strip tight would be a slow process. Having to wait for each strip to dry before adding another one would be very time consuming. What I did was this:

I cut out external forms for stations 1-2-3-4 and 14-15-16 using the original shape of the station but adding a half inch in diameter to each one all the way around. I attached the external forms at one location at the top, leaving the half inch gap even all the way around the stations. Of course this meant I had to thread each of the strips between the internal and external forms. I set the strip at its location and set it in place using wedges that I cut from scrap plywood. The wedges held everything tightly in place and the hollows turned out beautifully.
