Staples vs Brads

I am getting ready (awaiting shipment) of my first kayak, a Guillemont Exp. What are the advantages of using 5/8 or 3/4 inch brads vs staples. I have an air compresser and a 18 gauge Portor Cable brad gun. I can set the air compressor so that a goodly protion of the brad will remain above the surface of the wood to expidite there removal. The brads would create one less hole than a staple and the hole would be much small than the staple. What about holding power? Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks, Don
