Rudder conversion from single to dual peddles

OK guys, this question isn't about a stripper or S&G, but about restoration of another kayak I have. In addition to the Guillemot I'm about to finish, I also have a Dirigo 17. This thing can really haul some gear, kind of equivalent to a '72 Lincoln in the way in just cruises over anything you put in front of it. When I bought it, it was equipped with a rudder operated by a single foot peddle (take your foot off the peddle, you go hard port, keep it in the middle you go straight, and pushed all the way in, hard starboard). I was never completely satisfied with it, but now that I have the guts to tinker, and saw, and modify, I feel it's time to overhaul the Dirigo. It's equipped with Yakima rails. Can I use the existing rails to convert it into a dual peddle operated rudder system or, should I just buy a kit that comes with everything included (if there is indeed one)? I'm not very familiar with rudder systems at all and would appreciate your advice. Thanks. Lew
