Today I launched my CLC 17lt that I had started building in mid January. It has been a satisfying experience to transform a stack of wood and containers of foul smelling chemicals into a lively well mannered little craft. It was my first kayak voyage as well, I found the boat stable and responsive. I look forward to learning new skills.

I do not share the woodworking experience, skill nor patience that many on this board have, and have taken up kayaking in anticipation of exercise and adventure. The boat awaits painting and varnishing. I plan to finish those tasks in the next couple of weeks and then disappear down the river to the sea.

I did not find the building of the kit particularly difficult. It reminded me of youthful adventures in autombile painting. I was tempted to use the alternatives discussed on the board for hull wiring and deck fastening but settled on the methods provided with the kit. I thought the copper wire worked pretty well and dont mind the look of the brass ring nails. [I understand and admire the efforts of others to find a better way of doing things.]

I appreciate the information that this board has provided directly and indirectly.

See you on the water (race ya!)

Regards...
