The kayak bug has bitten me again and I've just stumbled across this web site. I hope someone can help me out in my efforts to build a copy of a kayak I built while I was in high school -- too many years ago to admit to. This was a 2 person kayak I built from plans I found in a book in the public library (it's no longer there unfortunately.) As I recall, the book was written in the early 1920s, in England. The thing I remember about this plan was the fact that all of the U shaped ribs were cut from a single sheet of 4x8 plywood, they nestled inside each other. The stem pieces were notched along their contour to accept the ends of the stringers, without the necessity of thinning the ends of the stringers to attach them to the stems. The cockpit was V-shaped at the front, but formed with straight pieces of wood, rather than by bending the cockpit framing pieces to make the v-shape.

I have been searching for a copy of this book, or a similar plan, with no real success. I have a copy of George Putz's book and I think his plans are very good, but the plan I had was involved a much simpler construction technique, and I'd really like to find a copy of that plan.

Does this ring any bells with any of the kayak builders out there? I'd be grateful for any information at all. Thanks.
