Deck lines

What does everyone use to finish off the ends of their deck lines? I used a lighter to seal the ends from fraying, but I didn't like the look. I thought about sealing the ends in epoxy, but I found that the dust covers for ST style fiber optic connectors (as in the ones used for ethernet hubs) made a very nice looking end cap. I know this isn't a household item, but thought I would pass it along anyway.
It doesn't look like the weather is going to be good for my kayak's maiden voyage this weekend. Very cold New Years and Saturday, warming on Sunday but rain 8^(
Maybe I'll just have to be cold or get wet....
