Interesting idea, Brian.
How about making it from a scrap of plexiglas - that way you'll be able to see the cut line without needing to open up a bunch of area around the blade. Think I'll try it next time I'm cutting plywood with the sabre saw.

: to the size of the sole plate.: 2) Mark a line down the center, then use your jig saw to cut a slot in the

: blade, so you can see your cut line as you work.: 5) Apply double sided tape and attach the plate to the sole of your saw. Put

: to the workpiece.: 6) Go cut some plywood.
