In Response To: Strip: Seat location relative to coaming... (John W.)

: If an imaginary line was dropped vertical from the inside edge of the rear
: part of the coaming, how far foreward do you all typically put the back
: edge of the seat?

: I thought I had read Rob Macks saying he typically used 5", but I can't
: seem to find it in the archives (maybe it wasn't him).

I seem to recall something of the sort, but (as I recall) the discussion at the time was in regards to sprayskirts. In that case it is better to err a bit towards a longer cockpit opening, and a bit more space between the back of the paddler and the coaming, as that would allow a bit of slack in the sprayskirt, and possibly prevent it from detaching with the paddler's movement.
