I know, this is insanity. The blade is the same width as the sole and the sole has a slight radius to it (front to back). The radius matches the concave curve of my deck strips. So the plan is to use it to bevel my strips on the boat as I go
The "sticks" that are pointing upward are handles I can use to keep from busting my knuckles on the forms; they are threaded and can be moved to the other side. I finished shaping/hardening the cutter last night and it cuts great... at least on softwood. This is my second homemade plane. I have a third that I'm working on now. I wouldn't recommend it for most people but I think it's pretty fun.
I know of other easier and more practical solutions but I want to test this out anyway.
