Or maybe not. The link will take you to a designer of multihull sailboats built using sheets of 3 mm marine plywood laminated over forms with a constant elliptical shape. Then reflected sides are cut out and S&G'ed together into very elegant and efficient hull and outrigger shapes. The plywood is not so much tortured as coaxed into shape using an amazing technique that Hughes calls Cylinder Molding. Not sure why, these are not cylindrical cross sections, but the name stuck. The designer says he can lay up half a 36' hull in 2 hours, while an experienced boatyard has done one in 38 minutes!
I'm looking at a trailerable trimaran in the 23'-27' range for somewhere down the line...
