Got interested in wooden kayaks in 2000, via a friend who had visited Pygmy Boats in Port Townsend WA. Quickly descended the slippery slope: two Cohos, a Tern 14, and, in summer 2005, a stripper, the Shooting Star by Rob Macks. Current project: Storm SLT for my wife. I continue to love this craft and feel I've received a graduate-level education from this quite wonderful board.
My wife and I live in Piedmont, across the bay from San Francisco. The yaks hit the bay regularly, plus Lake Tahoe and our favorite "secret" Sierra lake: Wright's Lake. We've also paddled in the San Juan Islands. If anyone is interested in any of the above boats, give me a shout via the board.
