Make sure you give pops a nice backband in his kayak so he can't assume that Barcalounger posture he's exhibiting in his plastic tub! 
Also, since you haven't done any kayaking before, I'd recommend going to at least one kayak symposium of some sort and/or take a basic paddling class. The power from your paddling should come from the twisting of your torso, not your arms, and if you assume pops' posture that's impossible. Paddling will be much more enjoyable with good technique.
Great-looking kayak. Paddling the Great Lakes is great fun! I hear there are some nice estuaries/bird sanctuaries to paddle on Lake Erie...
