I just finished my first attempt at a wooden strip built kayak called the North Star designed by Rob Macks on 6/15/01. It was about a year ago that the idea to build one came to mind. It was truely a rewarding project. The link below show some of the progress from start to finish. I am currently starting to work up to build a second.
