Adk Guide Boat

I was planning on building my first strip kayak, already have CLC kayak and homebuilt solo canoe, I'm thinking about building some type of rowing boat. I was looking at the CLC Annapolis Wherry and the Cosine Wherry, but Nick's ADK Guide boat has caught my eye. Anyone else looking at this craft? Seems it would be easier(?) then a kayak since there is no deck. I was surprised at the weight (70 lbs). Nick, why is it that heavy? Being a canoe type craft, it would seem that it could max out around 50 lbs for its length. Interested in folks option on these boats and other designs.
