In Response To: Deck & Haul Alignment Blocks *Pic* (John Monfoe)

John, Put those alignment blocks on the outside of the boat. They will be much easier to knock off, and you can use a power sander to get off any residue of hot melt glue. Any alignment block you put on the inside should be in a spot where you can get at it REALLLY easy -- near the cockpit or an inspection hatch. Otherwise you will be doing too much work in a rather confined area. The moaning and groaning could be excessive.

If you need to push out a spot, because the hull or deck narrows in some spot, do it by wedging in a stick, forcing the hull or deck wider from the inside. you won't need glue to hold these in place, so they'll knock out easily, and cleanly, when the time comes.

you can attach the inner strip of glass cloth to the hull with tiny drops of hotmelt glue, or small drips of epoxy resin before assembling the parts. This will hold it in place after the hull and deck are combined. Then all you have to do is paint a bit of resin on that cloth and wait for it to set up.

hope this helps.
