Spokeshave, Flat or Round?

I'm currently building my first strip built kayak (Outer Island) and decided that I would borrow or buy the tools required for the job as needed. Today I was at my local woodwork supply store checking out the spokeshave. Now this is the first time I ever seen one of these tools and as most of you know there is not much to them. I was suprised, however, to find out that two different types are available, a flat bottom and a round bottom. The round bottom spokeshave was acually part of a kit that contained both types. So I was wondering what you guys that used these things regularly have to say.
