Brian, That is a beautiful boat!! You really did a nice job on that. Maybe we could get together and paddle sometime. I just finished an Arctic Tern S&G and I live just up the road from you in Umatilla Fl. Well, it is almost finished. I am waiting on the epoxy to cure while I paddle it. I still need to sand it down and put the deck rigging on. I love the way my boat paddles, but it is not as fancy as yours, Good job again!! Ronnie Weatherman, Umatilla Fl.
: Well, I would like to say thanks for all the help from everyone that answered
: the questions and posted helpfull hints and how-tos. I took all of your
: advice and after 11 months was able to finally finish my cedar strip
: modified Guillemot;11 months from pencil on paper to last screw tight and
: readu to go.: I stretched this Guillemot to 19 feet and changed the LWL length and initial
: stability. I also added the Guzzler pump that discharges under the compass
: mount and designed and built my own rudder system. The cedar started as 2
: x 10 planks from Home Depot and a tablesaw and bead and cove router gave
: me the 225 strips I needed. A hand plane, lots of sandpaper (Go Ryobi 1/4
: sheet sander), fiberglass, varnish and a couple of hours a day and there
: it is. I even made a cane seat and the paddle as well. I loved making this
: kayak and it will be as fun to paddle as it was to make. For those of you
: getting tired or impatient, this was my first kayak and taking my time
: made all the difference in the world.: I owe many thanks to Ross Leidy for his excellent website and advise and Nick
: Schade for THE book on how to do this type of construction. Thank you
: gentlemen.: Let me know what you think or if you have any questions. I would be glad to
: help. Next is the truck rack for getting back and forth to the lake/ocean.
: Should be done shortly.: Brian Barnett Orlando, Florida
