Will,

Congrats to you too.

The book has the plans drawn out on graphs. You could either enlarge them on a copier, or get one inch graph paper and redraw them on the graph paper, or get a ruler and redraw them.

I wasn't impressed with the plywood version in the book, so I made up my own for my nephew. It was not as easy as I thought it would be, but the final product turned out very nice. I used the stern transom from the book and their idea of the building jig, but I gave it more rocker and a pointed bow like a Mackinzie (sp?) Drift Boat. My brother is an avid fly-fisherman, so I thought the drift boat was VERY appropriate.

For this one I plan on building the strip version in the book. It looks like much better plans than the plywood version. I recommend not painting it like they do in the book, but finishing it bright instead. I will also bead and cove my strips, and use western red cedar with some alaskan yellow cedar accents. The forms look like they should produce a fair 'boat', but if they are a little off I will fair them up.

Another possibility would be to go with plans from http://www.jordanwoodboats.com/bt.htm

Their Baby Tender and Baby Tender II look good. My drift cradle boat looked similar to their Jolly boat with the rockers going the other way, and more sweep in the ends.

Mike

: Ditto. And congratulations to all four of you. My wife and I are expecting a
: miniature kayaker on October 21. And I too was considering a boat-shaped
: cradle. (I hatched the idea after watching the movie The Secret of Roan
: Innish.) Since our due date is a bit sooner than yours, I'll have to get
: cracking. I just went to Amazon's site and bought the book. Mike, if you
: already have your copy, do you have any comments -- the Amazon customers
: who reviewed it seemed to have reservations about the plans. Does the book
: have offsets tables, or just plans that have to be enlarged?
