: My paddling partner and I are thinking about taking a one-off from my new
: Guillemot 18. Yes, *gasp*, I'm actually contemplating smearing a bunch of
: epoxy and glass/kevlar/cf all over a bright, shiny, new boat!!: We're thinking about laying up the fabric over the bottom of the well-PVA'ed
: hull, and then vacuum bagging it. We'll do something similar for the deck,
: and then still probably build a wood coaming, since it would be hard to do
: a one-off from a completed coaming.: Deck and hull will be cut at the original sheer line, after removal from the
: wood boat, and then seamed "normally".: Big question: any recommended compositing schedules out there? He'd like to
: use primarily kevlar, but we'd consider some glass or carbon for ease of
: layup or what not.: He doesn't have the time/patience/skill to do a stripper, and doesn't like
: any of the existing s&g designs. Oh yeah, and he can't afford to have me
: build a stripper for him!: Thanks, Shawn
Have you looked at Ray Jardines composite yak page. I assume you have. How about trying to get ahold of him about his utilized layups. I think his most recent boat was vacuum bagged.
Use lots of PVA release.
