The species I am familiar with are somewhat heavier than red cedar but lighter than spruce. I have seen some quite nice looking strippers made out of aspen but I have not been able to follow up their later lives. The wood has weak grain so it is easy to handle and also easy bond with adhesives, the only down side I know is tendency to warp with change in moisture content.

: Recently at my local home builders supply i noticed a new shipment of Aspen.
: All in various widths. It had an almost pure white color and the grain was
: barely visible. Anyone have any info on this species, i.e. strength, color
: when finished etc. I'm considering using it for several projects since the
: price was cheaper than spruce. Depends on what i learn from you guys/gals.
: Thanks
