I don't know what this blue painter's masking tape is, But Don't use the standard cream coloured masking tape. You can cut the kevlar really easily if you do, but you'll end up with bloody great mess when you try to take the tape off, damn stuff sticks really well to kevlar. Whatever tape you go with, test the adhesion qualities of the tape on an offcut before you start sticking lots of tape over a large area of expensive kevlar. George's tape sounds like the one to go with if he's getting good results.
