Hi George...thanks for the reply. Your answer has clarified things somewhat but raised even more questions. I visited your website in order to try and learn more about "where you are coming from" so-to-speak and I'm still confused...especially on the pricing. Your sliding pricing structure appears to be almost sarcastic or tongue-in-cheek since there are no definitions or parameters for the price categories. If you imply your boats are built to a much higher standard than other well known professionals in the field, yet insist on keeping your methods a secret, how do you ever convince a potential client your boats are worth considerably more than the competition? Does the formal training in engineering really make that much difference to a client whom I'm sure is making an enormous emotional decision based upon a boats "eye appeal"? The only other factor I thought may come into play would be a sales technique commonly referred to as "snob appeal". I suppose I'm probably missing something else here when it comes to having to recut new strips (50 hours) if you screw up on one...I just don't get it. Doesn't that separate the "professional" from the "amateur"...the ability to turn a mistake around? Would this approach have anything to do with having premium prices in order to cover the added waste in time and materials? (I'm not sure I would want it to get around that I can turn a small error into an additional $3,000.00 overhead). George, you certainly are a man of mystery and from what I've seen on your website, you do make nice boats to be sure.
