The only thing to add to this is marketing. If I can convince you that my $500.00 kayak is worth $5000.00, because George is selling his for $8000.00, then we have a different game.
I think, in the end, the value of your kayak is based on two numbers;
1- the lowest price you will sell it for.
2- the highest price someone will pay to own it.
(Isn't there some fancy name that ends with the word "co-efficient" that would quantify this value??) {:o)
