Okoume = Gaboon?

Hi to All,

I'm in the process of sourcing material for my next project (I'm building they Yare by clc) One supplier I rang said the didn't have Okoume ply but the did have Gaboon (sp?) they said their supplier listed it as Okoume in the catalogue and it was the same thing. And that it was made according to British Standard 1088. Is it the same?

The plans for the yare specify 3mm okoume as being the only thing you can build this boat out of due to bending properties, If gaboon is different to okoume will it still work? They gave me a cheap price on the stuff, so I'm tempted to buy it.

Please help!

Thanks in advance,

Paul
