It was relatively easy to sand, and also fairly easy to tape over on the underside of the deck. I also tried to use brass screws on the coaming (instead of the 10 clamps required) but ended up later pulling the screws and re-drilling and bunging the holes. I do like the visual effect of both...the brass in the deck, and the end grain of the bungs in the coaming.
