Sheer strip bevel

I started my first stripper kayak yesterday, An 11 foot Little Auk, which will be used as an auxillary for my sailboat. I now have about 1000 feet of cedar and pine stips (and a lot of sawdust). The forms are strung on the strongback and I am ready to start the fun part.

My question is what angle to bevel the sheer. The Little Auk has a sharp angle at the sheer/deck joint at the bow. See figure 5-19 in The Strip-Built Sea Kayak. Nick's general instructions are to bevel the sheer such that it is parallel to the floor. It seems to me that for this sharp angle I should bisect the angle and plane half of it into the sheer strip and half of it into the deck. What is the general practice for stripping sharp angles?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
