Catamaran?

One summer on Lake Michigan I met a couple paddling around the edge of the Lake in identical kayaks. The next day I saw them pulling out of the bay joined together with a sail. Together they formed a catamaran. It was pretty cool. I'm thinking about doing something like this. Although, I think it would be faster if there were two sails, rudders, and keels. Good idea? Bad idea? Thanks for comments! DJ
