Troll -- n. a stumpy, short but somewhat ogre-like creature of Norse mythology. Can be found under bridges (if you remember the childhood story of the Three Billygoats Gruff -- they tried to cross the bridge -- the Troll said "Who goes trip-tromping over my bridge?" -- etc. -- or is this just a Midwest thing because so many Norwegians settled here?)
Yoopers -- sl. pl. n. -- people from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the 'U.P.' (those from the you-pee are you-pers.)
There's a band up there (up dare, eh?) called Da Yoopers.
