> speed on one of those.I second the endorsement of the Kid-Yak. I built one from a single sheet of 4mm Okume last winter with my 8 now 9 year old son and it is a treasure. Glen-L specs gross weight of 100 lbs for 4 inch waterline. I guess kid-yak weight at 20-25 pounds and son is about 70 pounds, so there may not be another year of head-room. But some of his heavier friends exceeded this weight and were all over in it. Planning to build a larger kayak this winter, just to stock up!
