Which stripper to build

Posted By: Jim Richardson

Having finished my first boat, a chessie 18, I am ready to build a stripper. I am seeking advice on which design to use. I will use the boat in the off the coast of San Diego, kelp beds, some surf, a bit of Baja maybe. Day trips only and I am of the large varity ( 5'11", 220 lb. ) I like the way the chessie 18 tracks but turning it is a chore. Right now I lean towards the Guillemot but wonder if there is something more along the lines of the 'play' boat that would fit a 'paddler of substance' like my self.

Also, is anyone aware of any sources for bead and cove strips in the San Diego or Los Angeles area or is mail order the best bet.

Any and all advice would be appreciated.
