Re: Have I Got a Deal For Nick?

I would like to thank George for giving me credit for techniques that were being used before I was born. It is nice to be thought of as precocious.

Obviously George did not understand why I disagreed with the concept behind his challenge. He is appearently attempting to demonstrate that his techniques are better. He has proposed a test that will provide one data point. One data point can not be construed as representative of any trend. The data point he is trying to get is riddled with random factors, currents winds, choice of route through an obstacle, force with which the boat hits said obstacle, manuverability of the design, weight of the paddlers. It is one bad data point that demonstrate nothing.

Lets say I won the challenge. Could I say "my" methods are better than George's. Absolutely not. If I won it would probably be because George made the first mistake, and I don't see the pleasure in winning something on what would likely just be bad luck on George's account. And I don't feel like giving George the satisfaction of bad luck on my part. Might as well just flip a coin and have at the boats with sledge hammer. The results would be just as meaningful.

George, and everyone else that wants to come, is welcome to the Rendezvous. I enjoy seeing boats, the more the merrier.

I don't think George and I have huge differences in kayak construction, just in our approach to what we are attempting to achieve.
