Yikes,
My Cape Charles 17 I built a couple of years ago weighed in at 39 lbs sans rubrails. Additional fiberglass on the bottom, plus cockpit support beams.
For those who care I weight 153lbs, the 17' rides a bit high, add about 20lbs of gear and the Kayak tracks and paddles a lot easier.
