Why try to push the definition of a kayak further than it really wants to go? If you want to build a kayak, and have a boat that you can take your (very small) children out in, why not buy a 17' Coleman for family trips? That would leave you more time to build a single (or double, if your wife...) kayak that works like a kayak.

Drop by sometime and pay me the 2 cents for this advice. :-)
